The Amazon Prime Day 2022 sale will take place in India between July 23 and 24, the e-commerce giant announced on Wednesday. The Prime Day sale in the country will come just days after the annual sale in the US, UK and other major markets on July 12th. As its name suggests, Prime Day is specifically aimed at Amazon Prime customers. It happens every year, with promotions, discounts and offers on a large number of products.
Deals, discounts and offers during the 2022 Prime Day sale in India will start at 12:00 am on 23rd July and will run until 24th July. Amazon said the 48-hour sale event would bring more than 30,000 new product launches from more than 400 Indian and global brands, including Samsung, Xiaomi and Intel.
There will also be 2,000 new product launches from more than 120 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMBs) such as XECH, Cos-IQ, Himalayan Origins, SpaceinCart, Mirakii, Karagiri, Nirvi Handicrafts in categories such as electronics, fashion and beauty, jewelry, craft products, the company said.
Customers using ICICI Bank and SBI cards and EMI transactions will receive 10% discounts on various products during the sale.
Amazon will bring up to 55% off its Echo, Fire TV and Kindle devices in the country’s Prime Day sale. There will also be deals on smartphones, consumer electronics, appliances, TVs, kitchen, everyday essentials and toys, among others. Also, the online marketplace is advertised to bring deals on Amazon Basics Fire TV Edition TVs during sale.
The Prime Day sale will also bring deals on smartphones, smartwatches, speakers and Alexa built-in TVs. Amazon’s shopping app on Android, as well as Alexa on Echo devices, will be able to provide details about the two-day event by saying, “Alexa, what is Prime Day?”
In addition to deals and discounts on various items, the Prime Day sale will bring rewards of up to Rs. 2,500 for customers who pay their bills and top-ups and send money using Amazon Pay. These rewards will be available until the start of the sale event.
Amazon Prime members will also receive unlimited five percent cashback on Prime Day purchases using the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card. Credit card application is also claimed to bring Rs. 2,200 in rewards.
The Prime Day event will also bring the launch of two Amazon Indian original series, namely Modern Love Hyderabad in Telugu on 7th July and Season 3 of Comicstaan in Hindi on 14th July.
Amazon will also offer Prime members up to 50% off the purchase of most complimentary subscriptions across the 12 streaming video services bundled into Prime Video channels.
Similarly, Amazon Music users in India will get two playlists: Desi Vibes in Hindi and Fully Tolly in Telugu. The Indic language playlist will also feature famous artists including AR Rahman, Jubin Nautiyal, Ritviz and other highlights from Bollywood, Indian Pop and independent pop scene in Hindi music.
Prime Reading users will receive 18 e-books to read for free on fiction, history, investing, philosophy and children’s books, including the bestselling One Indian Girl by Chetan Bhagat, Think Straight: Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life, Chanakya in the Classroom, Irrfan Khan: The Man, The Dreamer, The Star, among others.
Last month, Amazon announced that the Prime Day Sale will run July 12-13 for Prime members in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. Online sales will also be launched for the first time in Poland and Sweden – along with the other major countries.
At the time, Amazon also announced that its Prime Day events would be held in India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE later this summer. The e-commerce giant is also running the loyalty sale in Egypt for the first time.
Last year, the Prime Day sale was held in India between 26th and 27th of July.
